What

DOES VOLUNTEERING...

Want to volunteer?

Our primary service is to help people find suitable volunteer positions with community organisations. We interview new volunteers to determine their motivation and the areas they would like to contribute in, and then match them to a suitable position.

We've tried to keep the paperwork down but there are a few things we need to know about you - so check out all the detail and find the application form on the Volunteering page.

Upcoming GVC Events & Important Dates

In collaboration with 'In Gizzy' (an online directory for local businesses and community services), and to be supported

by the Gisborne District Council, the Gisborne Volunteer Centre have designed a FREE online events calendar.

We named it 'GVC-Share', and our

ultimate aim is to provide an overview of

upcoming events for eligible non-profits, helping

your group decide the best time to plan your next activity.

This years’ festival featured eight very diverse non-profit groups and the work they do in the community.

The films themselves ranged from playful to powerful, highlighting the work of the groups featured, and celebrating some memorable volunteers along the way.

The common theme that was evident through the films was the commitment and enjoyment people have in volunteering.

The festival was an amazing tribute to all the organisations involved and the wonderful people who support them.

The overall winner of the night was film maker Tom McGregor with his film entry for the Gisborne Toy Library.
